About Me

My fitness journey began 10 years ago, during my first year at the University of Calgary whilst pursuing my Mechanical Engineering degree. Apart from basketball I didn't play many sports as a kid, and was un-athletic and uncoordinated. When the impressive gym facilities at the University were available, I was intrigued. I started going to the gym not really knowing what I was doing, but I was consistent. I started to see results and that is when I decided that I needed an athletic outlet to focus my training. I signed up for an introductory kickboxing class at the University which I did for a year. I then discovered mixed martial arts gym which taught Muay Thai kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Judo, wrestling, and of course, MMA. I immediately fell in love with BJJ + wrestling, and although I trained for striking inevitably I gravitated back to BJJ. As an active grappling competitor, it is important to maximize strength and conditioning while maintaining mobility, speed, agility, and most importantly staying within the same weight class. To achieve this I explored various training styles which include:

I became a certified personal trainer because I have a passion for teaching and helping others reach their fitness goals. Improving your fitness is simple; all it takes is action and consistency. Like action to join a gym, or buy a new pair of runners so you can start jogging in the morning. However, people have less and less time and we're in the never ending search to optimize our time and make everything we do more efficient. That's where I come in. Leveraging my years of experience and knowledge I can help you get where you want to be in much less time it took me. I never had a personal trainer when I first started but looking back I wish I did. It would have saved me an enormous amount of frustration, time, and injury. Injury prevention is a huge key to success as a personal trainer. My goal has always been to improve my athletic performance for martial arts, but if I had been injured due to a workout, I would fall behind in my training. Even if you don't train for a sport, the idea of improving fitness is to live a better life, therefore, injury prevention is paramount when I'm coaching my clients. I am a true believer that one size does not fit all and every client requires a different approach to training. Using my experience and knowledge in different training protocols I will develop a unique program that will help you meet or even exceed your goals. No matter what your fitness level is, or where you are in your journey, I would love to meet you and help.

I am currently taking on new clients at a great fitness facility in Bridgeland. If that is too far for you, let me know and we can discuss possible other locations.
Not a problem. I can provide a package deal where create an individualized workout program, teach you the techniques and exercises required, and send you on your way! I can always provide single sessions down the road if a refresher is required or you want to learn something specific.
While online coaching can never replace having a personal trainer there with you guiding you through your exercise, it is a great place to start if you are completely new to exercising or if you have been working out for a while and are finding yourself in a plateau. Using video messaging services I can also correct technique and form. Compared to 1 on 1 sessions, online correspondances are much more affordable and will lead you in the right direction .
I train everyone from beginners to advanced athletes. I enjoy teaching people the basics of exercise and movement while watching them progress rapidly but I also love working with advanced individuals and making minor tweaks and adjustments to bring them to the next level. In addition, kids benefit a great deal by having an active lifestyle from a young age and I can help create the foundation for a balanced fitness program as they mature. Conversely, as we get older, exercise becomes more and more important in order for us to maintain our activities we enjoy. Therefore I also work with the older population.
